| Ebony headplate by Jason Simpson
Headplates, also known as peghead veneers or faceplates, are often selected for purely aesthetic reasons, though they do serve the purpose of reinforcing the scarf joint. We carry headplates to match nearly all of our back and side woods. For an illustration of most of the headplate woods you are interested in, check out the photos listed under "back and sides". On the other hand, to obtain inexpensive samples of our back and sides woods, to see the woods first hand and present to your clients, consider purchasing a selection of headplates.
When you buy an Indian Rosewood headplate with an Indian Rosewood back and side set on the same order, we will do our best to match all the woods in that order. As with all of our woods, if you are interested in a particular look, please say so in the 'special instructions' box on the checkout page.
We also carry veneers to make a laminate "sandwich" In the picture of Baranik Guitars headstock, Baranik has taken the extra step of bending his headplate for a unique contoured headstock. Note Gotoh contour tuning machines!
